Are the Eiffel Tower and Tokyo Tower both similar? Almost everybody knows about the Eiffel Tower which is located in Paris but very few people know that in Tokyo Japan there is a tower known as Tokyo Tower which looks very similar to the Eiffel Tower. Tokyo Tower

At present time, the Tokyo Tower is the second tallest structure in Japan. The tower was constructed mainly for communication objectives. The construction of the tower started in June 1957 and was opened on 23 December 1958. The tower is currently used as a communication tower and an observation tower.

The Tokyo Tower is located in Shiba-Koen, Minato, Tokyo. The tower stands at a height of 333 meters or 1093 feet. Its top floor and the observation floor are located at a height of 249.6 meters or 819 feet. Tokyo Tower Company is the present owner of this tower. The estimated cost of the building was US$ 8.4 million as of 1958. In the tower, there are 16+ floors with 4 elevators.

The Tokyo Tower is designed to look like the Eiffel Tower, and is painted using two colors – one is “white” and the other is “international orange”. The Tokyo Tower is a major tourist attraction and more than 150 million people have visited the tower. The main source of income for the tower is tourists and antenna leasing.

There is a four-storied building in the tower in which there are museums, restaurants, and shops. It is also the place from which one can visit the observatories of the tower and can enjoy the beautiful view of the city. The first observatory is at a height of 150 meters or 492 feet and is known as Main Deck. Meanwhile, the other observatory is at a height of 249.6 meters or 819 feet and is known as Top Deck.

Eiffel tower

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most beautiful in the whole world. The tower was designed and built by Gustave Eiffel on whom it is named as well. It is a lattice tower and is made up of wrought iron. The tower is located in the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. The construction of the Eiffel Tower was started on 28 January 1887 and on 15 March 1889, it was completed. On 31 March, the tower was officially opened.

From its construction in 1889, till 1930, it was the tallest tower in the world. The height of the Eiffel Tower is 330 meters, and its top floor is at a height of 276 meters. Although the tower is so high, still there are only three floors in it. Stephen Sauvestre is the architect of the tower. Meanwhile, the structural engineer of the tower is Maurice Koechlin Émile Nouguier. Compagnie des Etablissements Eiffel was the one responsible for the main contractor of the tower.

The Eiffel Tower is used as a broadcasting tower as well as an observation tower. The tower is owned by the City of Paris, France, and is managed by Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel. The tower was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. In the Eiffel Tower, there are three levels, on the first and the second level there are restaurants. However, the third level is only for observation purposes.

Le 58 Tour Eiffel is the name of the restaurant located on the first level. Meanwhile, the restaurant on the second level is known as Le Jules Verne. It is estimated that about 250 million people have visited the Eiffel Tower since its opening in 1889. About 6.91 million people visited the tower in 2015.
