Burj Khalifa
Burj Khalifa is still the tallest man-made structure and building located in the heart of Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates(UAE). Dubai is well-known for its luxurious lifestyle, advanced technology, and digital economy. But the one that has brought Dubai worldwide recognition is Burj Khalifa. Burj Khalifa is the tallest structure as well as the tallest building in the world. So, it has become the most popular tourist attraction in Dubai. Every year, this building gets millions of visitors and it earns billions of US dollars per year from tourism.
The building was named after the ruler of Abu Dhabi and the second president of the United Arab Emirates to honor him. The construction of the building was started on 6th January 2004 and after only five years, the building was completed on 17th January 2009 breaking all the man-made records of skyscrapers. It was inaugurated on the date January 4, 2010.
This skyscraper gains an initial strong foundation from reinforced concrete and high-quality structural steel and aluminum. The estimated cost of the building was US$1.5 billion. The UAE and Abu Dhabi governments helped Dubai a lot to construct the building by lending money. It is a multipurpose building used for both commercial and residential purposes.
Including an antenna spire of 244 m, the building has an architectural height of 828 m or 2717 ft and 829.8 m up to the tip. The building has a total of 154 floors plush 9 floors for maintenance. With an extensive floor area of 309,473 m2 (3,331,100 sq ft), there are 57 elevators and 8 escalators in this building to fulfill the travel requirements of the tourists and the inhabitants of the tower.
Behind the dazzling design of Burj Khalifa, there is the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Adrian Smith worked as the main architect and Bill Baker was the structural engineer of the building. The tower is built in Neo-futurism architectural style. Samsung C&T was the main contractor of Burj Khalifa.

One World Trade Center
One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States of America as well as in the Western Hemisphere. It is also the seventh tallest building in the world. Actually, it is the main building of the reconstructed World Trade Center complex which was destroyed by the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. The tower is situated at 285 Fulton Street Manhattan, New York City, U.S. The building is named the same as the North Tower of the original World Trade Center complex and it was formerly known as Freedom Tower.
The construction work of the building started on April 27, 2006, and was completed on May 10, 2013. Finally, on November 3, 2014, this supertall structure was opened. The construction cost of the building was approximately 3.9 billion US dollars. With an architectural height of 541.3 m or 1,776 ft, the skyscraper has a 325,279 m2 or 3,501,274 sq ft floor area in it. There are 94 floors above the ground level with 5 floors below the ground level in this building.
One World Trade Center contains a total of 73 elevators/lifts. The architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is responsible for the design of the tower and David Childs was the main architect. Besides “Skidmore, Owings & Merrill”, other designers behind its construction were Hill International and The Louis Berger Group.
The main contractor and the structural engineer of the building were Tishman Construction and WSP Cantor Seinuk respectively. The “Port Authority of New York and New Jersey” and “Skidmore, Owings & Merrill” are its developers. The tower is built in contemporary modern architectural style and is mostly used for offices. Besides, it is also used for observation and communication.
