3 Objects of Highway Survey
The highway survey is carried out to achieve the following objects, here 3 objects are described below:
1. To examine a number of alternative alignments and to choose the most appropriate alignment.
2. To avoid delay, extra cost and complications in execution of work. This may occur in the absence of a proper highway survey.
3. To avoid the probable of failure such as embankment subsidence, landslides, erosion etc. This may occur in the absence of proper investigations.
Instrument Used in Highway Survey
The instruments generally used in highway surveys are Abney level, tangent clinometer, chain, metallic tape, prismatic compass, levelling instrument, plane table, and theodolite.
