The company was founded by Ralph Thomas McDermott in Bermuda. However, at present, its headquarters is located in Houston, Texas, USA. The company provides services in Energy, Engineering, and Construction fields. It is not only one of the biggest construction companies in the USA but also in the whole world and this is evident when we see there are 54 countries where it has operations.

The first project after Mcdermott International Ltd. was founded was a contract to build a total of 50 wooden drill rings for a wildcatter which was located in Luling, Texas. In 1930, as the growth of oil drilling became very popular, the headquarters of the company was transferred to Luling from Eastland, Texas. Although the headquarters of the company was transferred a couple of years before, in 1932, it was again moved to Houston, Texas. The McDermott family at that time had three different businesses – Elmax Construction, J.Ray McDermott and Co., and Stall & McDermott.

The first construction crew of the company was hired in 1937 which consisted of 6 individuals. Moreover, an office was opened in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1939, the company acquired J.G. McMullen Dredging Company and renamed it Olsen Dredging Company. In 1946, all of the business companies of the family were merged into one which was named as J.Ray McDermott & Co., Inc. of Delaware. Moreover, in 1947, it became the first company to install a steel platform in 20 feet deep water in the Gulf of Mexico for Superior Oil. In 2010, McDermott international shareholders agreed to join Babcock & Wilcox a US government-based contracting company. When the company was first founded by Mr. Hensel Phelps, they only work on home building and remodeling. The Hensel Phelps Construction Co. received its first commercial contract in 1945. Founded in 1908 as Tusla Rig, and manufacturing company the company was co-owned by C.W Flint who later on became the full owner of the company. The headquarter of the company is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When the company first opened it used to be a supplier for drilling and pumping equipment that were in high demand due to the booming oil industry.

However, after C.W Flint fully took over the company he diversified the service. Oil field lumber yards and derricks building were the new services. During World War ll like all the other companies, Flintco also worked for the government and helped in the construction of Army bases and Airfields. The company acquired a commercial construction company and set its foot in the commercial construction field. Between 1949 to 1958 the company received its first remodeling construction project of the Hillcrest Medical Center.

In 1951, the company expanded Razorback Stadium for the University of Arkansas. For the next decade, Flintco kept growing and expanded its work into Kansas. The company got its present name between the years 1969 to 1978. For the next 3 decades, the company kept on its path of growth and in 2008 celebrated 100 years of the company. In 2013 Alberici Corporation acquired the company. In 2016, Flintco stepped into the industrial construction work.

In 2017, the logo of 5he company was updated along with the tagline. Flintco Industrial was branded in 2019. In the same years, Flintco declared its interest in working in the aviation industry.
