Different Types of Defects in Painting
Following are the different types of defects in painting:
1. Fading
The effect of sun rays on the painted surface can cause some of the paint to lose its color, this phenomenon is known as fading.
2. Bloom
The formation of dull patches on the painted surface is known as bloom. This type of defect is formed due to bad ventilation or the use of defective paint.
3. Flaking
If the paint peels off from the painted surface, it is known as a flaking defect. This type of defect occurs due to poor adhesion.
4. Sagging
The thickness of the painting should not be too much or too less. Sagging defect is formed due to the use of too much thick coat of paint on the surface.
5. Grinning
The grinning defect is formed due to the inadequate coating of the paint. In other words, the coating of the paint is not enough to cover the background seen.
6. Saponification
This defect is the development of soap patches on the painted surface. Saponification defect is created due to the chemical action of the alkalies.
7. Wrinkling
The defect of wrinkling is formed when the horizontal surface is painted too thickly.
8. Flashing
