The following paragraph describes the objects and location of the sewage treatment plant.
Object Of Sewage Treatment
The following are the objects of sewage treatment:
1. To reduce the strength of sewage so that it may neither pollute the receiving water nor cause sewage sickness to the receiving land.
2. To kill all pathogens from sewage so that it can be safely disposed of.
3. To remove all nuisance causing elements from the sewage so that it can be safely disposed of.
4. To prevent the destruction of fish and other aquatic life.
Location Of Sewage Treatment Plants
The treatment plants should be located as near to the point of disposal as possible. If the sewage is to be disposed of in the natural stream, the treatment plant should be located on the river bank. Â
They should be on the downstream side of the city and sufficiently away from the water intake point. The plant should not be too far away from the town to reduce the sewer length.
On the other hand, the site should not be so close to the town, that it may pollute the general atmosphere.
